New Year… New Focus
If you read our very first blog post you might know that 2023 was a hard, discouraging year for us. Part of that was me not focusing on the blessings in all things, even the hard and discouraging. This year, I am going into 2024 focusing on what God can and will do and not so much on what I can do and accomplish.
Here are some thoughts to take into this new year:
How can God be glorified in this situation?
What can I do right now (in my actions, reactions, response) to bring glory and honor to Christ and make HIM known?
Who has God placed in my life right now that I can help and encourage them in their relationship with Him?
Is my attitude reflecting Christ or self?
Do I need to take a step back and pray before going into a situation or responding?
Is this what I want or what God has led me to?
What can I be thankful for in this (even in the bad there is something to be thankful for)?
What do I need to say NO to so that I can be available to say YES to God and my family?
Is my calendar and schedule over full? What can I remove so that I can have time to rest in Jesus?
How can God use me, right now, where He has me?
This year, what if our focus is on Christ and what we can do for Him? It is also important to know that sometimes God needs us to step back and let Him work in hearts and minds. We can use these times of taking a step back to rest in Him and spend some time growing closer to Him, preparing for whatever He may have ahead. It is so easy to get in our own way and take control when God needs to be in control. We have to trust Him in all seasons… seasons of rest, waiting, growing, learning, and doing.
Let’s focus on making Him known this year in all that we say and do!
